little miss sunshine

Rob and I went to a screening of Little Miss Sunshine last week in Burbank. I still don't know how he found out about the screening. DVR has changed my life. No commercials? Get out! Sixty-minute programs reduced to forty? Finally! Let's be honest--would I ever go back to regular commercial-interuped programs? Probably not. I suppose the only down side of this remarkable freedom, and freedom is exactly what I feel to have no commitment to my television, is I don't see movie previews. But we are being honest here and when have I ever cared about a movie preview? Right. Anyway, I am thankful that Rob does care because this movie is hot! The casting was well planned, the story is a little crazy and disturbing but fun AND I laughed out loud without feeling compelled to do so by a prerecorded tickeled audience. The movie, mostly filmed in what feels more familiar than Albaquerky or Scottsdale, came out July 26th. I think you should see it because I think you would like it. Check it out. I won't give it away.

mockingbird

I wasn't sure if I could enjoy a Derek Webb album more than House Show...and then I heard him and his wife, Sandra McCracken, perform Mockingbird. They are the dynamic duo, in my humble opinion. I have listened to Mockingbird three thousand times and every time it repeats inself in my car I think about switching CDs but don't. It's a love-hate relationship. I love the lyrics, love the music, hate the conviction I experience as I often find myself as the people Webb writes about. Both Derek and Sandra are very talented and do not realize their profound influence on me.

This is Rob. Isn't he stunning? He's my husband.

This is me.

a whole new world

It has occured to me blogs are brilliant. This is my first post and I think I am hesitant to type much in case I am doing it all wrong. This picture isn't really me, but I can see why you may have thought it was. This is my sister, Juliet, exploring the bamboo forests in Maui. I thought it was symbolic of my blog. I hope you like it.
